"Toward long-term success"" Mindset is everything"

1.Service providers that successfully execute on new go-to-market strategies for converged services can gain new revenue streams and more efficient, leaner operations. They will benefit from third-party innovation, customer-centric strategies and new channels to market. Longer term, they will enjoy enhanced brand value and increased competitive differentiation, leading to sustained benefits for service providers and their shareholders.

To help ensure success: Set realistic goals. Don’t be afraid to fail. Lean on partners. Be flexible. Share risk. Focus on customers.

2.The right partner can help service providers develop a strategy and make the decisions to grow with the new conversation experience. However, the path to the new conversation experience raises a number of questions. Such as:
What investments should I make and when?
How should I frame collaboration agreements?
Which partners should I work with?
Determining the answers to these questions and finding success in the new conversation experience will come down to mindset. Those who are most willing to think about the user experience before technology, to turn competitors into collaborators and to open their networks to new partners will realize the greatest rewards.

"Readers' comments""somebody's opinion"

1.It would also be very beneficial if you were not actively discouraged at every opportunity to put your invention in to practice by shifting sands of support, mediocre advice from UK Govermnent funded "Business Specialists" and long complex schemes to get finance, that's when it is not "match funded".

The truth is most inventors / entrepreneurs / business people get to where they need to be through persistance rather than actual support in the UK.

2.In the bad old days engineering needed a lot more muscle power than it does now (at least in most cases) and i believe that this was the root cause of it being a male dominated profession.
Now it's not the case and we are losing a wealth of talent by not encouraging women to become engineers.
It's not surprising that engineering in the UK doesn't have the same status as accounting, the law and medicine. Most people think an engineer is someone who mends cars and washing machines.
Not intending to be critical of the men who do these jobs, a lot of them probably earn more than us.

"somebody's opinion"" I acknowledge there’s an element of chicken and egg, but it is not acceptable to blame the egg"

1.In the bad old days engineering needed a lot more muscle power than it does now (at least in most cases) and i believe that this was the root cause of it being a male dominated profession.
2.The UK has the lowest proportion of women engineers in the EU – less than one third that of Latvia. Are Latvian women more left-brained?

I am not underestimating the cultural and social challenges. We suffer from a series of vicious circles where the lack of positive images of female engineers reduces the likelihood of us having female engineers to generate positive images. I acknowledge there is an element of chicken and egg, but it is not acceptable to blame the egg. We need to break the circles and we need to do it now.

I would like to see engineers challenging the BBC and other media outlets for the poverty of their engineering coverage. I would like to see the industry championing engineering as part of our culture – a prize for the best portrayal on TV might be a good place to start. And I would like to see engineers demanding that the government reverses its cuts to the funding of science and science in society.

As CaSE recently said: ’It is time to shift from good practice that encourages gentle change to achieving real and rapid results.’The point is that it’s not good enough to say that girls just don’t like engineering. In India the proportion of women enrolled on engineering degrees in 2000 was twice what it is in the UK and that’s despite the lower rates of literacy for girls there. Are Indian women less feminine?
The picture is no better in the jobs market – engineering is one of four STEM professions that have seen no major improvements in gender balance. Of nearly 13 million women working in the UK, only 5.3 per cent are employed in SET occupations, against almost one third of the UK’s 15.4 million male employees.

This represents a huge loss for us all – the loss to the country in a talent pool half the size it could be; the loss to society of the types of engineering that might come from a nonmale perspective; and the loss to women in not having entry to these rewarding careers.

But there is an additional, intangible, but hugely important loss: engineering will never have the position it merits at the heart of our society and economy if it remains the preserve of such a narrow section of society. Given the economic, climatic and social challenges we face as a nation, it is imperative that engineering graduates from its current position as an exclusively male eccentricity.

That said, there are many organisations doing excellent work to encourage girls into STEM and retain them in STEM careers and many individual engineers are also keen to help. During my career I often worked for brilliant male managers keen to encourage women in SET, but it was never their absolute priority.

As a woman engineer I often felt excluded, but I realised I was just not being actively included. All groups have their common language. I had no problem with the geek speak, but the sporting metaphors I didn’t understand or the sexual allusions I didn’t want to kept me silent when I should have spoken up.

" A prototype tidal turbine has become the first device of its kind to deliver 100MWh of power into the Scottish grid."

1.Harnessing tidal streams, the 500kW tidal turbine prototype was designed and built by Rolls-Royce subsidiary Tidal Generation Limited.

Robert Stevenson, Rolls-Royce, vice-president — Power Ventures said: ‘Reaching the 100MWh milestone highlights the significant potential of cleaner, greener tidal power as part of a diversified UK energy mix. Having proven the capability of tidal energy, Rolls-Royce is well placed to meet any future demand with larger, more efficient technology on a commercial scale.’

Installed as part of the Deep-Gen III project, co-funded by the UK government-backed Technology Strategy Board, the Rolls-Royce prototype tidal turbine is currently deployed at the European Marine Energy Centre’s (EMEC’s) offshore test site off the Orkney Islands, Scotland. It is the first EMEC-located project to receive Renewable Obligation Certificates and to reach 100MWh of supply to the grid.

The tidal unit’s three-bladed turbine is attached by a tripod to the seabed and can operate, fully submerged at water depth of 40m. It is reported that its design allows the turbine to continually rotate to face the incoming tide at an optimal angle. In addition, the turbine unit is semi-buoyant and can be towed to and from the point of operation, minimising installation and maintenance costs by avoiding the need for specialist vessels.

Neil Morgan, head of energy at the Technology Strategy Board, said: ’This is a significant milestone for the UK marine renewables industry. The UK is well placed to exploit tidal stream energy resources and, if commercialised on a large scale, this technology could be an important part of the renewable energy mix we’ll need in the future, and could create jobs and exports for the UK.’

As part of the Energy Technologies Institute-funded ReDAPT (Reliable Data Acquisition Platform for Tidal) consortium project, Rolls-Royce is currently building a 1MW tidal turbine demonstration unit that will be deployed in mid-2012 at EMEC in Orkney.

Dr David Clarke, ETI chief executive, said: ’The UK is already a world leader in this exciting renewable sector. However, the long-term viability of tidal technology depends on it becoming competitive with other renewable energy sources. Continued investment and new partners are urgently needed to maintain momentum and bring the technology to scale.’
2.This provides a more accurate way of judging the ripeness of fruits such as strawberries than assessing their colour. It could also lead to faster picking methods, because it can see through leaves and other visible obstructions.

Microwaves in particular are used because they are safe in low doses and pass through many substances but are stopped by water.

‘With the microwave approach you’re looking a little bit below the surface, so potentially the strawberries could be red but they might still be hard and not very full of water,’ said Dudley.

‘We can see where the strawberries are and see through the leaves. Certainly in strawberries, the leaves don’t have a particularly heavy water content so are fairly transparent and underneath the strawberries stand out very nicely.’

The system could even be used to detect disease or determine whether the crops need different amounts of fertiliser or water by continually monitoring them to see how their water content changes.

‘You can start thinking about how you can manage your crop in a more efficient way, certainly in an enclosed area such as a greenhouse, where strawberries would be,’ said Dudley.

‘But we’re also considering it for on tractors and in farm fields. That’s perfectly feasible if you can mount this technology in the right way.’

NPL has spent about two years developing the imaging system with farmers and a farming equipment company, and has built several prototypes based on technology used for material analysis that have been tested in the fields on cauliflowers and lettuce.

The biggest challenge was designing the microwave detectors to produce a high-enough resolution at a fast-enough speed to be useful.

The next step will be partnering with companies from the sensor and agricultural industries to develop the technology at a low-enough cost to mount on farming equipment, while limiting false positive readings.

" Toddler in China hit by 2 vehicles, then ignored, dies"" Paulson: China Should Move Faster on Yuan"

1.In Internet chat rooms and newspaper opinion pages, many Chinese — from academics to ordinary citizens — began questions whether in the quest to get rich, China had lost its moral compass.

Some blamed a past series of incidents in which people who stopped to help elderly strangers who had fallen found themselves accused of wrongdoing and ordered to pay compensation. Others pointed to a pattern of corruption and sense of impunity by top Communist Party and government officials that has made the general population more uncaring and self-centered.

The case of the 2-year-old girl prompted local government authorities in Guangdong province to consider whether a law is needed to protect “Good Samaritans” who offer assistance to those in need. The China Daily newspaper reported the Guangdong Communist Party’s legislative affairs committee this week posted a notice on its “weibo” microblogging site asking for public advice on shaping a new law.

“Please stop the coldness,” the posting said. “Guangdong province is going to hold a discussion to criticize the behavior of leaving people in mortal danger out of indifference, and to advocate the spirit of lending a hand to those in need of help.” One newspaper said the province was considering establishing a reward, the equivalent of $78,000, for people who risk their lives to save others.

On Friday, the government-controlled media began a counter-offensive against the bad publicity from the story of Yueyue, with major papers running stories about kind-hearted bystanders who have helped save people from traffic accidents. One case involved a 20-month-old boy named Xiaojie who was hit by a car but quickly pulled to safety by “kind-hearted” bystanders — coincidentally, perhaps, in Foshan, the same city where Yueyue was hit and left to die. Xiaojie suffered only a broken leg, media reported.

“Rescues show caring nature of passers-by,” was the headline on the story in Friday’s China Daily newspaper. The Global Times headline on the same story was: “Foshan has another near miss with child.”

2.China should embrace a faster appreciation of its currency but U.S. policy makers should be wary of taking punitive actions to force the issue, former U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said Tuesday.

Paulson, speaking during an appearance in Washington, said the U.S. and China could both benefit from Beijing taking on much-needed structural changes to its financial markets. (Read the full speech)

“I believe … very strongly that it is in China’s best interest to reform and move to a market-determined currency that reflects economic conditions,” Paulson said.

He was critical, however, of ongoing efforts in Congress to pressure China to allow its currency, the yuan, to appreciate at a faster pace. The Senate in recent weeks passed a measure allowing U.S. officials to target Beijing’s currency policy through trade penalties and various international organizations.

“I don’t think that an approach that could lead to a trade war … is the right way to go,” Paulson said.

International Child Custody Disputes

There are legal limits to the assistance that U.S. authorities can provide to parents involved in a child custody dispute. When an American child is abducted overseas by a parent, the U.S. Government's role is to help the remaining parent by locating the child, monitoring the child's welfare, and providing information about child custody laws and procedures in the country where the child has been taken. Consular officers overseas can issue a U.S. passport to a child involved in a custody dispute, if the child appears in person at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate, and if there is no court order from the foreign court of that country barring the child's departure from the country.

Parents who are involved in a custody dispute overseas should find out whether the foreign country to which the child has been taken is party to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. Under the Hague Convention, a child who has been wrongfully removed from a parent may be returned to his or her place of habitual residence.

The second American revolution has begun, TSA deploys 'VIPR' teams throughout Tennessee to set up illegal security checkpoints on interstates

1.There's a sense of desperation in America today. Their jobs are being exported out of the country, their health insurance is being dropped by employers, their dollars are becoming increasingly worthless with each passing day and their futures don't look very promising. They're angry, frustrated and desperate, so they take to the streets and protest. Occupy Wall Street! Occupy The Fed! Take to the streets!

It's the right thing to do, but what most protesters -- and nearly all Americans -- don't fully grasp is that nearly every powerful institution is a criminal racket. It's not just Wall Street that's operated like a criminal mob, folks: It's the U.S. Congress. It's the health care industry. It's conventional agriculture, the mainstream media, the processed food manufacturers, the government regulators and of course the entire military industrial complex.

Nearly everything around you is a criminal operation. The banks openly steal your homes while laundering money for global drug lords. The U.S. government runs illegal guns into Mexico while allowing cocaine and heroin back into the USA to be sold at pumped-up black market prices. The mainstream media broadcasts outright lies and complete fabrications as if they were fact. Much of modern medical "science" is complete quackery or fiction, funded by corporations for the purpose of expanding corporate power. The local water supply is intentionally contaminated with toxic poisons known as "fluoride," and the local food supply is tainted with other dangerous chemicals like aspartame, MSG and BPA.

Your local hospital is almost certainly involved in a medical racket that seeks to insert high-profit medical procedure charges onto patient bills, and your local nursing home most likely throws granny in the hospital for a few days in order to get triple billing from Medicare upon their return. Doctors prescribe antibiotics because they get kickbacks from the drug companies, and the medical journals are little more than science whores who have been bought and paid for by the pharmaceutical industry. And don't forget vaccines, which have become the pathway through which infectious disease is actually spread among the population using live viruses injected into innocent children
Wake the heck up, people! Most of modern society is a giant con. Nearly every institution, every mega corporation, every government and nearly every politician or bureaucrat is really just a criminal mobster trying to steal your wealth or gain control over your actions and thoughts. Most institutions actually cause the very things they claim to be fighting against!
2.When the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced last year that it would soon begin setting up security checkpoints in places other than just airports, it definitely was not joking. News Channel 5 in Nashville, Tenn., has announced that Tennessee is the official inaugural state for the launch of TSA's new Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR) program, which will be setting up security checkpoints along interstates to conduct random (illegal) searches of vehicles.

TSA set up one of its first VIPR checkpoints in Tampa, Fla., last December after announcing to the world its plans to expand illegal searches to all aspects of American life. Presumably a test to see how the public would respond. VIPR teams groped and patted down passengers at a local Greyhound bus station, and they even brought in sniff dogs to add an extra layer of intimidation. And now an entire state has succumbed to the encroachment of the illegitimate US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its unlawful violations of the Fourth, Fifth, and Tenth Amendments to the US Constitution. VIPR teams have already been deployed to five truck weigh stations and two bus stations across Tennessee, with more soon to come.

Random security checkpoints, perpetual paranoia about terrorists around every corner, a rogue government that is pressing citizens to spy on each other and report their activities to authorities -- these are all protocols that took effect in Nazi Germany during the rise of Hitler, and they are all protocols that are now in effect in the US today. Think about it.

abroad information 11

1.Here are some of the many health-related companies I recommend. This list is not yet complete, as I'm adding to it frequently. None of these companies paid to be listed here. Comments are descriptions are my own opinions, not their claims. I sell no products listed here, nor do I earn any revenues whatsoever from their sale.

If your company has a product that you think should be on this list, mail a single sample, plus literature, to: the Health Ranger Review, 1820 E. River Rd., Suite #115, Tucson, AZ 85718.
2.Best dental herbal powder: Check out Dental Miracle. This is a serious herbal powder product for healthy gums and teeth. Just dip your toothbrush (with toothpaste) into this powder and brush away! I've been using this for months and absolutely love it.

Best healing food: garlic. This amazing food boosts immune system function, has antibacterial and antiviral properties, and has been proven to not just prevent various cancers, but to also treat cancer and cancer tumors. Can be used both internally or externally. Best when eaten raw or just slightly cooked. Top garlic supplement company: Wakunaga of American (Kyolic) at www.Kyolic.com Check our their aged garlic products. According to the National Library of Medicine, aged garlic can literally stop cancer tumor growth and proliferation. They're outstanding for use on prostate cancer and breast cancer in particular.

Best-testing superfood powder: Earth's Promise by Enzymatic Therapy. Get the kiwi / strawberry flavor. It's truly the best-tasting supergreens thanks to the citric acid and stevia in the recipe. It isn't the most potent supergreens formula, though, and it is a bit on the acidic side. Almost half the recipe is fiber, too, which makes it less nutrition for your dollar. But if you've had trouble stomaching the other ones I recommend, try Earth's Promise. Ask for it at any health food store. It's pricey, but easy to swallow.

Best Salmon Oil: check out a product called Salmon Essentials from Mera Pharmaceuticals. This product combines heart-healthy salmon oil (rich in omega-3 fatty acids) with astaxanthin, a potent antioxidant with an astounding track record in protecting the nervous system, eliminating arthritis pain, and fighting free radicals. I've seen this one product lower one person's LDL cholesterol by over 75 points in six weeks, with no other lifestyle changes.

Best whole food concentrate: a product called "Berry Green" from New Chapter, available at most health food stores and many natural grocery stores. It combines organic whole food concentrates of leafy green vegetables, berries and other healing superfoods. It's quite pricey, but the healing potential of this product is enormous. For one thing, it contains ingredients that offer strong prevention of prostate cancer.

Best spirulina: When you buy spirulina or products made with spirulina (one of my top recommended superfoods), make sure it's Spirulina Pacifica harvested from the waters of Kona, Hawaii, by a company called Cyanotech. This company farms the most nutritionally potent spirulina in the world. And thanks to the deep sea waters off the coast of Hawaii, this spirulina is free of contaminants found in many other coastal waters of the world. When you buy spirulina, make sure it's from Hawaii.

Best Noni: Every noni company claims they have the best noni in the world, but at a recent natural health trade show, I tasted over a dozen noni products. Most are just sugar water (or fruit juice) combined with a touch of noni. The exception to this was a product that only the courageous dare consume: Certified organic noni juice concentrate from Kahuna's Secret, a noni company run by surfer dudes near Hilo, Hawaii (on the big island). This stuff gives you a dose of real noni, without fillers, not that watered-down garbage you've probably tried from other companies. Talk about a taste punch, wow! It tastes like prune juice filtered through road tar. And, of course, the antioxidants and healing phytonutrients are right there in every tablespoon. If you really want superfruit nutrition and you're done toying around with sugary noni drinks, get the real deal from Kahuna's Secret.

Best food bar: Larabar. I'm astonished at how simple, healthy and nutritious these food bars are. These bars have just four ingredients, and there are no added sugars, no preservatives, no fillers and no refined carbs. Larabar does it right! Yes, it's still high in carbs, but they're fruit sugars, not refined sugars.

Best colloidal silver: I've surveyed the market, and the best currently available is Silver 100. They have a unique process, honest marketing, and a rock-solid product that I've personally seen tremendous results with. This product can literally be a lifesaver for people threatened by severe infections, pneumonia, or aggressive infectious disease. Plus, it's remarkably safe (just 100 parts per million of silver).

Soul-searching in China after toddler in hit-run dies , Deloitte’s Quandary: Defy the S.E.C. or China

Deloitte has been caught up in a much larger issue regarding the role of Chinese accounting firms that review the financial statements of Chinese companies whose shares are traded in the United States, and whether those firms can be subjected to scrutiny by American regulators.

The S.E.C. began investigating Longtop Financial Technologies of China for accounting fraud earlier this year after Deloitte’s Chinese affiliate resigned as its auditor because of significant problems in verifying its financial statement. Deloitte had served as Longtop’s auditor since the company went public in the United States in 2007 through an initial public offering and listed its shares on the New York Stock Exchange.

Longtop sold more than $300 million in shares in the United States, and at its peak in November 2010 had a market value of $2.4 billion before its stock price collapsed with the disclosure of Deloitte’s resignation.

Deloitte gave Longtop’s financial statements a clean bill of health through 2010 and only withdrew its audit opinions in May when it resigned. In its letter to the company, Deloitte said it found “very serious defects” that included significant differences in deposit balances at banks from what the company reported and loans to it that had not been previously disclosed.

The first step in any corporate financial fraud investigation is to obtain the work papers of the auditors, so the S.E.C. issued a broad subpoena to Deloitte’s Chinese affiliate for those records within days of its resignation. The misconduct disclosed in the resignation letter raises questions not only about Longtop’s management but also how the outside auditors did not learn about it for so long. The S.E.C. is likely to look into whether anyone at Deloitte’s Chinese affiliate participated with management in the accounting problems that were eventually uncovered, and whether the firm was as thorough as it should have been in verifying the financial statements in prior years.

The firm has resisted complying with the subpoena because it asserted that turning over its work papers could violate Chinese law prohibiting the disclosure of “state secrets,” which it says includes information about the “national economy and social development.” Anyone convicted of a violation could be sentenced to a long prison term.

In September, the S.E.C. filed a subpoena enforcement action in Federal District Court in Washington to force Deloitte’s Chinese affiliate to turn over the documents from its Longtop audits. In a filing in the case earlier this month, the S.E.C. argued that it should be permitted to serve the subpoena on Deloitte’s American lawyers along with an order requiring the firm to respond to its demand for documents without having to use a more cumbersome treaty procedure that requires working through the Chinese government, which would add months to the process.

If the court orders the accounting firm to turn over the records and it refuses, then it can be held in contempt under 15 U.S.C. § 78u(c),which could result in a criminal misdemeanor conviction punishable by a fine.

The firm could also face suspension or revocation of its registration as an auditing firm in the United States by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board if its refusal to turn over records violates the agency’s rules. A contempt finding by a federal court would not go over well with the regulator. Any disciplinary action could have a negative impact on other Chinese companies whose shares are traded in the United States and use Deloitte’s Chinese affiliate because they might have to switch auditors.

Earlier this week, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board disclosed part of its 2007 annual review of Deloitte’s United States operation that highlighted deficiencies in its quality control. One issue raised in the report is the quality of the work of its foreign affiliates because it “has no formal system in place to monitor the services its foreign affiliates actually perform.”

When investors see a name like Deloitte as a company’s auditor, there is a level of comfort that the firm will apply the highest standards to its review of the financial statements. But the name may imply more than is actually there if a foreign company, or the overseas operations of a multinational corporation, is audited by an affiliate that may not adhere to American accounting standards. At the least in such cases, questions can be raised about whether a foreign affiliate’s work is of the same quality as that performed by Deloitte in the United States.

The issue of whether Chinese accounting firms meet the standards set in the United States is a growing concern. The S.E.C. has stopped the trading of a number of Chinese companies that issued shares in the United States by engaging in reverse mergers because of questions about the veracity of their financial statements. This move raises implications about the quality of the work performed by their outside auditors.BEIJING — A toddler who was run over by vans twice and then ignored by passersby on a busy market street died Friday — a week after the accident and after days of bitter soul-searching over declining morality in China.

Two-year-old Wang Yue died shortly after midnight of brain and organ failure, the Guangzhou Military District General Hospital said.

“Her injuries were too severe and the treatment had no effect,” intensive care unit director Su Lei told reporters.

The plight of the child, nicknamed Yueyue, came to symbolize what many Chinese see as a decay in public morals after heady decades of economic growth and rising prosperity.

Gruesome closed-circuit camera video of last Thursday’s accident, aired on television and posted on the Internet, showed Yueyue toddling along the hardware market street in the southern city of Foshan. A van strikes her, slows and then resumes driving, rolling its back right wheel over the child. As she lays with blood pooling, 18 people walk or cycle by and another van strikes her before a scrap picker scoops her up.

Yueyue’s death touched off another round of hand-wringing about society and personal responsibility. Many comments posted to social media sites said “we are all passersby.”

Li Xiangping, a professor of religion at Huadong University, said on a Twitter-like service that it is too easy to blame others.

“What after all prompted such a sad phenomenon? Officials? The rich? Or is it our own cold-heartedness?” Li said on Sina Corp.’s Weibo.

Police have detained the drivers of both vans on suspicion of causing a traffic accident but have not said what formal charges they would face — and if manslaughter could be the charge now that the girl has died.

The people who could be seen on the video passing by the injured Yueyue have recounted being harassed for ignoring her. The respected Southern Metropolis Daily newspaper quoted a man it identified only as Mr. Chen, a hardware merchant, saying that he had been receiving crank calls ever since someone picked him out as the 16th passerby. He said he hadn’t noticed the child.

Some experts said an unwillingness to help others is an outgrowth of urbanization as migrants pour into cities and create neighborhoods of strangers.

“Rapid urbanization not only affects China or Foshan, but anywhere in the world where you have a lot of high-rise buildings, where there is high population density, then the relationship with the neighbors, and with each other is affected,” said Yao Yue, a psychologist and director of telephone help-line for distressed people in Beijing.

Optical Communications Market Forecast Report and Database , What do the large OEMs want? Answer- profits

Despite near term uncertainty in the market, the optical communications industry is well positioned for growth in 2011-2015. Record sales of optical components and modules in 2010 are an early indication of the industry wide recovery. While growth in the optical networking equipment market lagged behind sharp increases in components sales last year, equipment sales are expected to accelerate in 2011. A slowdown in component sales reported by suppliers in early 2011 should not last for more than a quarter or two and this market will return to growth in the second part of 2011, as fluctuations in the industry supply chain even out. Lightcounting expects growth rates in the optical component market to remain higher than the networking equipment market over the next several years, since optics accounts for an increasingly larger fraction of equipment vendor cost and revenue.

The forecast report presents an analysis of infrastructure upgrades of the top ten network operators, a summary of trends in the networking equipment market and a detailed analysis of the forecast for optical components and modules. The forecast database (offered as an Excel file) includes historical data from 2008 to 2010, as well as a forecast through 2015 for optical components and modules used in Ethernet, Fibre Channel, SONET/SDH, CWDM/DWDM, wireless infrastructure, FTTx, and high performance computing applications. Historical sales data for the period from 2008 to 2010 is based on data from more than 30 transceiver vendors, including 25 vendors that shared confidential sales data with LightCounting. The market forecast out to 2015 is based on LightCounting's model which correlates transceiver sales with network traffic growth and projected subscribers of FTTx systems.
All x86 servers ship with at least one CPU from either Intel or AMD, at least a few gigabytes of memory, and in almost all cases, at least one disk drive.  It is hard to differentiate one OEM’s Intel or AMD CPU or memory or disk drive; consequently, the I/O (input and output) peripherals and architecture is where the money is.  Over the past ten years, Fibre Channel became a very profitable part of the server OEM portfolio.  OEMs do not want to lose the opportunity to upsell I/O hardware and software solutions by quickly commoditizing the I/O by putting 10GbE as the standard (free) I/O solution.

OTS 4700 Shelf Controller ,OTS 4000 System

System Control

The OTS-4700 shelf controller provides system maintenance control for the OTS-4000 terminal sub-system. Two redundant controllers work together to monitor the health and status of the system. One OTS-4700 acts in active mode and one in standby mode. Both controllers have access to all line cards independently providing high reliability monitoring and control of the OTS-4000 sub-system.
Local Craft Interface

The OTS-4700 hosts an embedded web server enabling local or remote element management via a standard web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. No proprietary Local Craft Interface (LCI) software needs to be stored on a PC. This eliminates the logistical issues of maintaining and distributing new LCI software versions to field technicians.

The easy-to-use Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows users to provision line cards, view alarm, performance monitoring, user session and configuration logs and perform software upgrades. The user can navigate through the equipment tree directory structure and view graphical window panes with status, provisioning, performance monitoring and alarm browser details. The Opnext OTS-4000 series optical terminal subsystem is a NEBS-3 compliant shelf-level product that occupies one third of a standard seven-foot equipment rack and supports eight hot-swappable line cards, each with 40 Gbps total capacity. The OTS-4000 chassis supports redundant DC power feeds and provides full redundancy of all common equipment.

There are two 40G transmission modulation schemes used by OTS-4000 series line cards, Phase Shaped Binary Transmission (PSBT) and Differential Phase-Shift Keying (DPSK), both can operate on 50 GHz or 100 GHz ITU grid channel spacing. Opnext's 40 Gbps signal can be retrofitted into existing 10 Gbps DWDM optical channels, enabling Multi-Haul (simultaneous 10 Gbps and 40 Gbps on the same fiber) without the need for special 40 Gbps sub-bands. This compatibility with existing fiber types and 10 Gbps transport line systems effectively quadruples the capacity remaining on the original 10 Gbps DWDM span, and significantly delays fiber exhaust and the expenditure involved with lighting incremental fiber. OTS-4000 is scalable in single 40 Gbps channel increments, and provides a carrier with an immediate reduction in transport costs. Opnext's 40 Gbps transponder technology supports long-haul transmission using EDFA-only or ultra long-haul using Raman-assisted amplification.

To facilitate flexible integration into existing NMS environments the OTS-4000 employs a Java? component model as its common management interface and supports a full range of FCAPS features. Standard interfaces include Web, XML, and SNMP.

Body language

Cats communicate a variety of messages using body language. Examples include arching their backs as a signal of fear or aggression, and slowly blinking to signal relaxation. A cat that chooses to lie with its stomach and chest exposed conveys trust, and comfort (this is also typical of overweight cats, as it is more comfortable for them); however, a cat may also roll on its side or back to be able to defend itself with all four sets of claws. Usually other signs (like ears and whiskers folded backwards) give an indication of the cat's overall mood. Flattened ears mean that the cat feels threatened, and may attack. Mouth open and no teeth exposed suggests a feeling of playfulness.[9]

The tail is often used as a signaling mechanism. A tail held high suggests happiness or confidence, or it can be used as a friendly greeting towards human beings or other cats (usually close relatives), while a half-raised tail shows less pleasure, and unhappiness is indicated with a tail held low. In addition, a cat's tail may "wag" or move rapidly to express a state of conflict. A cat with its tail held high and twitching shows excitement, but this is often mistaken for anger. Cats will twitch the tips of their tails when hunting or when irritated, while larger twitching indicates displeasure. They may also twitch their tails when playing.[10] A scared or surprised cat may puff up its tail, and the hair along its back may stand straight up and the cat will turn its body sideways to a threat, in order to increase its apparent size. Tailless cats, such as the Manx, which possess only a small stub of a tail, move the stub around as if they possess a full tail.

Touching noses is a friendly greeting for cats, while a lowered head is a sign of submission. Some cats will rub their faces along their guardian's cheek, hands, or ankles as a friendly greeting or sign of affection. This action is also sometimes a way of "marking their territory", leaving a scent from the scent glands located in the cat's cheeks. More commonly, a cat will do a "head bonk" (or "bunt"), i.e., bump someone with the front part of its head to express affection.[11]
A Calico Cat yawning

Cats also lick each other and people (e.g. their owners). Cats lick each other to groom one other and to bond (this grooming is usually done between cats who know each other very well). They will also sometimes lick people for similar reasons. These reasons include wanting to "groom" people and to show them care and affection.

Social science

Social science is the field of scholarship that studies society.[1] "Social science" is commonly used as an umbrella term to refer to a plurality of fields outside of the natural sciences. These include: anthropology, archaeology, business administration, communication, criminology, economics, education, government, linguistics, international relations, political science, sociology and, in some contexts, geography, history, law, and psychology.[2][3]

The term may be used, however, in the specific context of referring to the original science of society established in 19th century sociology. émile Durkheim, Karl Marx and Max Weber are typically cited as the principal architects of modern social science by this definition.[4] Positivist social scientists use methods resembling those of the natural sciences as tools for understanding society, and so define science in its stricter modern sense. Interpretivist social scientists, by contrast, may use social critique or symbolic interpretation rather than constructing empirically falsifiable theories, and thus treat science in its broader sense. In modern academic practice, researchers are often eclectic, using multiple methodologies (for instance, by combining the quantitative and qualitative techniques). The term social research has also acquired a degree of autonomy as practitioners from various disciplines share in its aims and methods.

European Convention on Human Rights

The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms[1] (commonly known as the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR))[2] is an international treaty to protect human rights and fundamental freedoms in Europe. Drafted in 1950 by the then newly formed Council of Europe,[3] the convention entered into force on 3 September 1953. All Council of Europe member states are party to the Convention and new members are expected to ratify the convention at the earliest opportunity.[4]

The Convention established the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Any person who feels his or her rights have been violated under the Convention by a state party can take a case to the Court. Judgements finding violations are binding on the States concerned and they are obliged to execute them. The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe monitors the execution of judgements, particularly to ensure payment of the amounts awarded by the Court to the applicants in compensation for the damage they have sustained. The establishment of a Court to protect individuals from human rights violations is an innovative feature for an international convention on human rights, as it gives the individual an active role on the international arena (traditionally, only states are considered actors in international law). The European Convention is still the only international human rights agreement providing such a high degree of individual protection. State parties can also take cases against other state parties to the Court, although this power is rarely used.

The Convention has several protocols. For example, Protocol 13 prohibits the death penalty. The protocols accepted vary from State Party to State Party, though it is understood that state parties should be party to as many protocols as possible.

How long does it take to forget first love?

Hello Guest 5951, I just read your email and it made my heart heavy not in bad way but I completely emphasise with your story. Sadly there isn't a time limit on how long it takes you to forget someone you love or loved but truth is we dont forget people who we really love and the only advice I can offer is that we keep them in our memories , move on with our minds and give our heart to someone who will give real love back unconditionally.

Heck I still remember my first love as if it was yesterday but if it was true love then we would have been together today and whoever is really meant for you will not pass on by. Time and expecting the unexpected is my motto because you never truly know what will happen with who and when and where.
I am not sure if this email helped or made things worse but here's in hoping that everyone who has genuine love to offer is given the love they truly deserve.
